Surprise!

There's a little something I've been working on for the past few weeks but I haven't been able to share until now. I now sell Lyme disease awareness bracelets! 100% of profits after costs will go to the California Lyme Disease Association. Here are some pictures of my first style.
This is a size small, 7". Fits my wrist nicely, which is 5.5"

I am so excited about how they turned out! They are currently made to order and purchases are available through my Etsy shop, located here!!

As a conclusion, here is a picture of my with my new hair accessory, Lyme green!!

KRCB Auction (Appearance #2!)

Posing in the control room!
Last night I had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the KRCB Television Auction by answering phones and taking bids. At first, I was really nervous to talk to someone on the phone! I didn't want to mess up. After taking my first set of bids, I realize I answer phones and take down information for my job all the time! I had nothing to worry about.
Taking bids!
It was so much fun! It has been great to see so many donations and sponsors being so generous. I believe that if people knew a little more about the Miss America Organization, they would be more inclined to support and sponsor our titleholders. Speaking of promoting the Miss America Organization, I was even interviewed on television!
My few minutes of "fame"
That was probably the scariest part of the night. I just went with what I knew and what I was passionate about promoting. Of course, I could talk for hours about this organization so my interview seemed very short! My dad even got to see part of it while my parents were watching it online. I'm not originally from Sonoma County, so I was excited that my parents still got to watch me.
Playing camerawoman!
I had a blast and I am so thankful for this opportunity. It was so nice meeting everyone and being in such great company! I will definitely try to be involved in a bid auction again.

Campus Movie Fest

What a great experience!
Tonight, I went to the screening of the Campus Movie Fest films for my school. Basically, Campus Movie Fest is where students have one week to film a 5 minute movie. They are provided with a MacBook Pro, HD video camera, and all the rest of equipment needed to film a movie. I had never been to something like this before, so it was really fun! I had a very small part in one of my resident's movies playing a doctor, as well as helping film some of the other scenes. After hearing the prizes and seeing great, funny, dramatic, sad, movies, I was really pumped to maybe film one of my own next year! I was involved in theatre in high school and middle school, although mostly musical theatre. I have some great ideas and hopefully in a year, I will be able to share them all with you! :)

Lack of Motivation

"I want to change the world, instead I sleep." - Ingrid Michaelson, "Keep Breathing"

Do you ever feel this way? Like you want to go to something but you're lacking motivation? Well, that hit me today. It is an off day. It was a chore to get up to go to the gym today and I even skipped out a little early. I am proud that I made it to yoga! It always starts my day off right. I had a heart-to-heart with my dad today about lacking motivation and inspiration (I even googled how to get motivated but all I found were how to get motivated to exercise and I already did that.) I accomplished mini-tasks today such as cleaning my room, finding my lost ear plug, coming up with a new program idea for my residents, and coming up with great ideas for my platform! Hey, this day is looking up! I'm off to get some iced green tea before class! :)

What do YOU do when you feel unmotivated?

My FIRST appearance!

This Saturday, I had my first appearance ever as an official member of the Miss Sonoma County court. I was 2nd runner-up in my first local pageant, I'm pretty proud of that! I had a blast with our Outstanding Teen, Kaela. Our only real job was to pass out free raffle tickets to win a $1000 gift certificate to Costco. This was a benefit for the Carousel Fund, which supports children who are ill. There were some great things being auctioned off and I wish I had brought some money (or had some to bring!).

We met tons of great people there. It felt so good to be involved with such a wonderful cause. I wish I could do this everyday! It made me realize how important platforms are to this organization and how I had the ability to pull something off like this! Maybe not as extravagant, but I could work on it! ;) This was the 25th annual gala, so they had a lot more experience than little ole me! One of the best parts was seeing the bands The Family Stone and Jefferson Starship perform! I was surprised at the amount of songs I actually knew!

I was so fortunate to be able to have this opportunity and I hope I see many more this year! It was very tiring, but oh so worth it. I wish I could do this every weekend! Here's hoping! ;)

Why blog?

I wanted to start this blog mainly to document my journey. When I went to my first Miss America local orientation and audition, I tried to take pictures of myself but it is a little hard to take a good picture when you live alone. Not only that, I was so nervous! That's something I want to change. I am going to take pictures of every step. It has always been a dream and ambition of mine to just compete in the Miss America system, it's hard to believe sometimes that I'm actually here! I am proud of this organization and proud of myself for overcoming my insecurities and taking that first step toward my dream. That's all it takes! Let's hope this is my pageant year! :)
